Overview

​The Cleveland International Tattoo (CIT) is a display of patriotism and ceremony including music, drill teams, color guards, and cultural acts celebrating our first responders and military services from the United States and beyond. The CIT is an annual production hosted by the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society (GCPOMS) and is the finale of the annual "Police Week" held in May. The CIT welcomes guest of all ages.

The term "tattoo" comes from the early 17th-century Dutch phrase doe den tap toe (“turn off the tap”), a signal sounded by drummers or trumpeters to instruct innkeepers near military garrisons to stop serving beer and for soldiers to return to their barracks. It is unrelated to ink body-art.
