Francis Gary Powers Jr. Speaking Engagement
The son of Francis
Gary Powers, famed U-2 Pilot, Air Force Veteran, and
CIA employee will be participating in the Annual Tucson Book Festival in
March. The SaddleBrooke Ranch Veterans Club has the opportunity to
have him as a guest speaker here at SaddleBrooke Ranch.
Powers is best known for his involvement in the 1960 U-2 incident, when he was shot down while flying a secret CIA spying mission over the Soviet Union Union. Fancis Gary Powers Jr. is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of The Cold War Museum. Gary founded the museum in 1996 to honor Cold War veterans, preserve Cold War history, and educate future generations about this time period.
He worked with the National Park Service and leading Cold War experts to identify historic Cold War sites for commemorating, interpreting, and preservation. In 2015, he consulted for a Steven Spielberg Cold War thriller, Bridge of Spies.
