Description

Although these two artists seem very different, they have more in common than you think. With a shared voice for diversity, the songs of Stevie Wonder and Cyndi Lauper come together in this cabaret, Higher Colors, with songs on hope, passion, strength, and being one of a kind.

JAM Sessions is made up of Jordan Stovall, Austin Bowen, and Melissa Slaughter, three performers based out of NYC with a vision to bring together contrasting, iconic artists. With music direction by Andrew Sotomayor. #HigherColors #JAMSessions #SistersOfSuperstition

Jordan Stovall is excited to be returning to the Duplex, where he participated in the From Book to Broadway cabaret series. He was most recently seen as Tommy in the new musical The Clackmac Pioneers at The Secret Theater, Otto in The Food Chain at the Treehouse Theater NY, and Charlie in the developmental reading of The constitution of The United States at Shetler. Favorite past regional roles include Cabaret (Emcee), Avenue Q (Princeton/Rod), Rocky Horror (Brad Majors), and Master Harold and the Boys (Master Harold/Hally). He can be seen around the city performing silly improv and sketch comedy shows, since he spent a lot of money on UCB training, and auditioning feverishly. His play, Corpus, will be read as part of the Manhattan Reading Competition on March 1st at the Hudson Guild Theater. www.jordanstovall.com

Austin Bowen is a New York City based Performer. After living in Virginia for the past 12 years, he decided to make the move back to New York to pursue the dream. In 2014, he graduated from Averett University with a BA in Theatre in Danville, VA. Some of his most memorable roles are Seymour Krelborn in Little Shop of Horrors, Billy Flynn in Chicago, Courferyac in Les Miserable and his ensemble tracks in Legally Blonde and Hairspray. Austin also just made his New York City debut at The Secret Theatre in an original production of The Clackamac Pioneers under the Direction of Dan Dinero. He is so fortunate to have met Melissa Slaughter and Jordan Stovall and put together this interesting, yet fun production for you all.

Melissa Slaughter puts the mmmm in JAM Sessions! She was last seen in The Clackamac Pioneers with Jordan and Austin. Favorite roles include Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Marcy Park (25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee), and Audience Member (Jerry Springer the Opera). She likes Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food, canning jams (yes, really), and long walks at the Cloisters. www.melissaslaughter.com
