Description

ColeSlaw will be back at the Diamond Valley Arts Center for Music At The Center on Saturday, November 4th, 2017. Admission is $15 for Members and $20 for General Admission. Student tickets are $10 for Online Pre-Sale and $15 at the door. The two aim for an injection of fun with their gigs with a set list that ranges from Malo to James Taylor covers, plus Coleslaw originals. “It is cohesively all over the place, it’s a crazy time.”

You may not be a coleslaw connoisseur, but if forced to make a selection, your favorite rendition of the shredded cabbage salad can be had at one of Coleslaw’s gigs. ColeSlaw, the dynamic duo of well-known Inland musicians – Matt Coleman and Chad Villarreal are not afraid to include any genre or style of music, from inspirations as varied as reggae, funk, singer-songwriters and blues just to name a few. They let the music fly. Indeed, it’s a night of Unique Covers and Lively Originals!!!

Truth is, the band’s simplistic moniker is a partial nod to the prefix of Matt’s surname. But, as the act admits, it really is a far more substantial nod to one of their biggest loves—food. “Slaw is a concoction of wonderful and crazy ingredients that feed the palate in one spoonful,” Villarreal says. And such a quote could be taken rather literally or figuratively, in a sonic sense, as the pair dutifully provide the same flavorful tuneage via both self-described “unique covers and lively originals.”

“We do our best to stretch the rhythm and vocal tones so nothing is missing,” says Coleman. “We work really well together so that process hasn’t been a chore and it has been both liberating and exciting to produce a thick sound with only two pieces.” And there have actually been instances in which Coleslaw’s temporarily pared the pair to a solo performer (for instance, we’ve seen online photos of Villarreal armed with a six-stringer while perched behind his kit), especially when the other half needs a quick restroom break.

MUSIC AT THE CENTER is a fundraiser for The DVAC and its programs.  Guests receive access to the current gallery exhibition as well as the concert.  Doors open at 6:30 pm with the concert beginning at 7:00 pm.
