Description
April 18 at 7 pm Concert features the MCC Jazz Ensemble, the MCC Jazz Fusion Band and the East Valley Jazz Cooperative. The MCC Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of MCC alum and Instructor, Paul Brewer. The Jazz Ensemble at MCC has performed at various festivals and concerts and its alum range from studio musicians, composers, film scores, jazz stars and music educators. The East Valley Jazz Cooperative is an educational initiative of Music Serving the Word Ministries. Directed by Russell Schmidt, The East Valley Jazz Cooperative focuses on the continued development of two elements that have longstanding importance within MSW: educational outreach and improvised arts. The East Valley Jazz Cooperative meets on Saturday afternoons and is hosted in the PAC of Mesa Community College. Launched in 2016, the EVJC is comprised of talented high school and junior high school musicians, who are committed to developing their skills while they also explore their creativity. The MCC Fusion Combo, started in the 1990s by Fred Forney has performed at National Jazz Conferences and continues to dazzle audiences by performing the genre, Jazz-Rock Fusion at a high level.
