HEROS - THE JEWISH TRAILBLAZERS EXPERIENCE
BY THE MUSEUM OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE
Humans have always needed heroes. In most cultures, the hero is the person who saves us from external danger. He – the traditional hero is usually male – vanquishes our enemies and our fears in times of war and turmoil.
This innovative and inspiring new exhibition reveals that heroes are a vital part of Jewish culture. Jews, like every other people, teach the new generation about the values and actions they should pursue through its choice of heroes.
But there is something special, unusual about the Jewish hero. We have always understood that there are many different ways to be a hero.
Heroes – Trailblazers of the Jewish People is a refreshing view of what it really means to be a hero. Visitors will meet different types of Jewish heroes throughout our history including scientists, intellectuals, leaders, revolutionaries, cultural figures, athletes and more – men and women with unique talents. This remarkable and diverse selection represents the heroism of our people through history, while showing that success has many different faces.
These heroes will inspire children – and their parents – to ask who is truly brave, and to identify their own personal heroes and role models. The exhibition will illustrate that being a hero comes from conquering our worst instincts and daring to think and act differently from the crowd – anyone can be a hero.
RIKUDAY AM - ISRAELI FOLK DANCING
Join Sagi Azran on the dance floor in front of the bar for Israeli folk dancing for all levels. Times and sessions will be posted as we get closer to the date. Folk dancing is partially sponsored by RokdimLA and MATI.
MEGA CHALLAH BAKE
After last year's huge success with the Mega Challah Bake for women and girls, at the festival, we are bringing the activity back and hope to have over 600 women baking challah and saying a blessing together for Israel.
ISRAELI SHUK
Stroll through a vivid recreation of one of the most colorful spots in Tel Aviv. Walking through the Shuk, you will feel right at home with artists directly from Israel and local vendors selling art, jewelry, Judaica, home goods and gifts.
IAC LEAD BEER GARDEN
Stop by for drink, catch up with old friends and meet new ones at the bar/beer garden (21+ w valid ID). This is the hot spot to meet and mingle with other young professionals.
