It’s Queen like you’ve never heard them before! With a background in opera and a voice built for rock, Maya Ben-Meir will take you on a musical journey, along with versatile pianist Dan Pardo, into the backlog of Queen’s legendary catalogue.
Through her sexy, unique, and powerful renditions of the band’s deep cuts, songs such as “Seaside Rendezvous” and “You Take My Breath Away,” Maya connects with legendary frontman Freddie Mercury’s vulnerability, passion, and courage – a connection that allows her to face her fears, trust her own strength, and take her place center stage. Israeli-born and NYC-based Mezzo-Soprano Maya Ben-Meir lives between classical music and rock and roll. She has performed at Israel’s Culture Palace in Tel-Aviv and Carnegie Hall in NYC, as well as venues such as Don’t Tell Mama (NYC) and Bialik Cafe (Tel-Aviv). ‘Not The Queen You Know’ is her favorite personal project to date, one in which she gets to explore the works of her favorite singer and share her passion for his legacy.
Dan Pardo is a NYC-based music director and arranger. Broadway: ‘Amazing Grace;’ Off-Broadway: ‘I Spy a Spy,’ ‘The Office: A Musical Parody.’ Regional favorites include ‘Fun Home’ (Weston), ‘Company’ (Barrington), ‘How to Succeed…’ (5th Avenue), and more than 25 shows at Goodspeed.
